Growing up in London, including a period in Muswell Hill where his father was the community Rabbi, he attended Menorah Grammar School and has a first class honours degree from King’s College London in Mechatronics, (the integration of electronic and electrical engineering, computer technology and control engineering with mechanical engineering) and was awarded the Siemen’s prize for top single honours on a mechanical engineering course. After graduating, he worked in Operational Research for the Export Credit Guarantee dept. He spent three years in Yeshivah before going to University and then after his period in industry decided to return to Yeshivah in Israel where he gained semicha – rabbinical qualification.
His three years at Chigwell & Hainault Synagogue, where he was effectively the assistant Rabbi to the senior Rabbi, have covered all aspects of the role of a community Rabbi with particular emphasis on youth and young families, leading services, giving sermons, all life cycle events and the full range of pastoral work.
Rina grew up in New York and has a BA degree in Psychology and an MSc in Clinical Sociology /Family Counselling as well as being educated in a Seminary in Jerusalem. She has various teaching qualifications and in her present role, plays a very active role across all sections of the community and all age groups, including teaching batmitzvah girls and leading other educational projects for all ages.
